Men’s Lacrosse begins America East play Saturday against UMass Lowell

Bearcats look to qualify for America East Men’s Lacrosse Championship for the fourth time in the last five seasons

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-5) is set to begin America East Conference play at noon on Saturday when it hosts UMass Lowell (2-3) at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
 
Binghamton looks to qualify for the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship for the fourth time in the last five seasons. The Bearcats previously reached the conference tournament in 2022, 2023 and 2025. Binghamton also aims to win its second America East regular season championship in program history, with its only title coming in 2004.
 
On Saturday, the Bearcats will honor first responders for their service to their communities as part of their First Responders Game. Admission to all Binghamton men's lacrosse games this season is free on behalf of Station 45 American Chop House.

About Binghamton
  • In its last game, Binghamton was defeated by Stony Brook 9-6 on March 7 in Vestal, N.Y. The Bearcats were able to shut out the Seawolves in both the second and fourth quarters, but Stony Brook was able to hold off a late rally to get the win.
  • Connor Winters tied his season-high total for saves in a game against Stony Brook with 17. The netminder ranks second in the country in saves per game (14.50) and fifth in save percentage (.600). He also has made at least 10 saves in each of his last eight games dating back to last season.
  • Binghamton's penalty killing ranks among the best in the country. The Bearcats are tied for fifth in the nation in man-down defense, stopping their opponent's extra-man opportunity 85.7 percent of the time. Of the 21 times Binghamton has been down a player in a game, the Bearcats have only given up three goals.
  • Andrew Girolamo led the Bearcats with two goals against the Seawolves last Saturday. With 13 goals scored this season, Girolamo ranks seventh in the America East in goals per game at 2.17.
  • Against Stony Brook, Luke LeSueur led all players with two caused turnovers. The freshman has caused six turnovers in the first six games of his collegiate career. He is also tied with Nolan Sharkey for the team lead in that category.
 
About UMass Lowell
  • UMass Lowell dropped below .500 following an 8-5 loss to Queens University of Charlotte last Tuesday. The River Hawks have also fallen to Quinnipiac 15-12 and No. 19 UMass 18-8. The two games UMass Lowell has won this season have come against Mercyhurst (14-13 in double overtime) and Wagner (16-7).
  • Justin Alexander ranks second in the country in ground balls per game (9.40) and third in faceoff percentage (.696). Alexander has also won at least 11 faceoff attempts in each game this season. In back-to-back games against Wagner and UMass, Alexander won 18 faceoff attempts in each contest.
  • Both Alex Lafreniere and James Donnelly are ranked in the top 10 in the America East in goals per game. In the River Hawks' first five games this season, Lafreniere leads the team with 11 goals for an average of 2.20. Donnelly is right behind him with eight goals in four games, for an average of 2.00 per contest. Additionally, Donnelly and Lafreniere rank fifth and sixth respectively in the league in points per game. Donnelly has recorded an average of 3.25 points per game, while Lafreniere's average is at 3.00.
