Softball travels to Princeton for weekend series

Bearcats and Tigers to play Saturday DH, Sunday single game

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (4-14) took three out of five games during a three-day stretch of home contests at the nearby BAGSAI Facility last weekend. Sophomore third baseman Rachel Carey - the current America East Co-Player of the Week - hit a team-best .611 (11-for-18) during the five-game stretch. Freshman first baseman Lauren Payne hit .533 (8-for-15) and was named the conference's Rookie of the Week. Junior catcher Elisa Allen, meanwhile, homered twice last week and drove in a team-best nine runs.

- Payne leads the America East in batting (.475) and is tied with Allen for first place in both home runs (five) and RBI (15). Junior outfielder Maddy Dodig is fifth in hitting (.388) followed by freshman outfielder Megan Wolf in sixth place (.381). Payne ranks ninth (.340) and graduate student Darien McDonough is No. 10 (.339).

- As a team, Binghamton leads the America East in batting (.290), home runs (18), doubles (30) and slugging percentage (.478). The Bearcats are also second in on-base percentage (.378).

- Princeton (7-7) is the defending Ivy League regular-season champions and advanced to the finals of the conference tournament in 2025. The Tigers went 2-2 last weekend at the San Diego Tournament, with victories over Notre Dame and the host Toreros in the process.

- Julia Dumais leads Princeton with a .409 batting average and has homered a team-best three times so far this season. As a team, the Tigers are hitting .315. 

- Binghamton and Princeton have split the previous two meetings, which took place March 25-26, 2018 at a neutral site (LIU). The Tigers won 6-0 on the first day but the Bearcats bounced back with a 13-8, eight-inning victory the following day.

- With 98 career hits, senior first baseman Emma Lawson is just two hits away from becoming the 26th player in Binghamton program history to reach the 100-hit mark for her career. Junior infielder Maddy Dodig has 86 career hits followed by junior catcher Elisa Allen with 73 hits. 

- Junior catcher Elisa Allen ranks second all time in Binghamton history with 35 home runs - a mark which is also tied for ninth all time in America East history. Jessica Phillips (2010-13) ranks first all time in school history with 44 home runs while Kristen Brust of Stony Brook (2002-05) belted a conference-best 46 home runs during her career.

- Junior catcher Elisa Allen and senior first baseman Emma Lawson are closing in on the 100-RBI mark for their careers - a feat that only eight players in Binghamton program history have reached. Allen currently has 94 RBI while Lawson has driven in 89 runs during her career. 

- Junior outfielder Maddy Dodig and freshman infielder Lauren Payne each carry a team-best three-game hitting streak heading into the series against Princeton. Dodig is also second on the team with six multiple-hit games while Payne has five multiple-hit performances.

- Sophomore infielder Rachel Carey has a team-best eight multiple-hit games and five multiple-RBI performances so far this season. She has also posted three hits five times.

- A Binghamton player leads the America East in on-base percentage (Megan Wolf - .519), on-base percentage (Rachel Carey - .763) and OPS (Carey - 1.263).

- Redshirt junior infielder Akira Kopec leads the America East with three sacrifice hits so far this year. She is also tied for seventh with nine walks.
