VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (1-5) had its late rally fall short as the Bearcats were defeated by Stony Brook (3-3) 9-6 Saturday at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
Connor Winters tied his season-high in both saves (17) and ground balls (3) for the Bearcats in the loss.
Andrew Girolamo led Binghamton with two goals.

Stony Brook, meanwhile, got two goals from both Kian McCoy and Collin Williamson. Additionally, Will Birney, Owen Donnellan, Jake Lewis, Tanner Williams and Caleb Yeung each scored once for Stony Brook. Tommy Wilk stopped 11 shots in goal to help Stony Brook get the win.
The Bearcats got off on the right foot in the first quarter when Jacobsen spun around a defender before firing a shot into the top-right corner of the net for his fourth goal of the season to give Binghamton a 1-0 lead with 10:51 left. Stony Brook then took control by scoring five consecutive goals throughout the remainder of the quarter. Williamson scored both of his goals for the Seawolves during that stretch, while Birney, Lewis and Williams each added one tally. Stony Brook took a 5-1 lead into the second.
Winters and the Bearcats defense would keep Binghamton in the game in the second quarter. The Binghamton netminder made six saves to keep Stony Brook off the scoreboard in the second quarter. However, Binghamton was only able to get one goal during that span from Filanowksi. The Bearcats went into halftime trailing 5-2.
Both teams traded a goal in the first 1:32 of the third quarter. After McCoy scored for Stony Brook at 13:36,
CJ Mangio won the ensuing for Binghamton, before

Girolamo would close out the quarter with his first goal of the day at 1:22 to bring Binghamton's deficit to five goals entering the fourth.
In the final quarter, the Bearcats once again shut out the Seawolves for the entire 15 minutes. While Spaziani and Girolamo each scored once during the frame, Wilk made three saves to help Stony Brook secure the victory.
