VESTAL, N.Y. – Four members of the Binghamton wrestling team were recognized as Scholar All-Americans by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Wednesday.
Carter Baer,
Fin Nadeau,
Mikey Squires and
Charlie Tibbitts each received the honor for their success on the mat and in the classroom. This is the second year in a row that Binghamton has had four Scholar All-Americans named by the NWCA. The Bearcats previously set a program record with five honorees in 2024. In total, Binghamton has had 42 Scholar All-Americans dating back to 2003.
This is the third-consecutive year that Baer has been named a Scholar All-American. He becomes the fourth wrestler ever at Binghamton to be named a Scholar All-American at least three times, joining Joe Doyle (2020-22), Jacob Nolan (2021-24) and
Cory Day (2023-25). Baer's latest honor comes after he qualified for the NCAA Men's Wrestling Championships for the first time back in March following a second-place finish at the EIWA Championships. Baer went on to win two matches at nationals at 174 lbs., finishing his season with an overall record of 20-6. The Gouverneur, N.Y., native also added four technical falls and two major decisions throughout the year. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree in human development.
Squires receives this honor for the first time as a Bearcat, but the second overall, as he previously earned this recognition back in 2025 while competing for Princeton. Like Baer, Squires also reached nationals after finishing second at the EIWA Championships, with the graduate student wrestling at 197 lbs. Squires would win one match at the NCAA tournament, completing his final year of eligibility with a record of 20-5, while also posting five major decisions, two pins and one technical fall. The Norwich, N.Y., native is working towards his Master of Business Administration.
Nadeau was named a Scholar All-American for the second year in a row after he received the honor for the first time in 2025. The Bigfork, Mont., native won a career-high 21 matches last season, putting up one pin and technical fall. He completed his year by finishing a career-best fourth at the EIWA Championships at 157 lbs. Off the mat, he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Tibbitts has been named a Scholar All-American for the first time in his career. The heavyweight put up nine wins throughout the year, with three major decisions along the way. At Army's Black Knight Open on Nov. 16, Tibbitts finished in third place. He also took first place at Zingo Nationals back on March 1 while competing unattached. Tibbitts is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics.
These four wrestlers represent the first four Scholar All-Americans under first year Binghamton Head Wrestling Coach
Ryan LeBlanc's watch here in the Southern Tier. LeBlanc previously mentored 15 Scholar All-Americans during his five seasons as the head coach at The Citadel from 2020-25.
In LeBlanc's first season in charge of the Bearcats, Binghamton won seven duals and finished seventh at the EIWA Championships. With Baer and Squires reaching nationals, Binghamton has had at least two of its wrestlers reach the NCAA tournament in each of the last 17 seasons dating back to 2010. Binghamton also extended its streak of having won at least one match at nationals to its last 18 appearances at the tournament dating back to 2008. The Bearcats have won at least two matches overall at the national tournament in each of their last eight appearances dating back to 2018. With Baer winning two matches himself, the Bearcats have had one wrestler win at least two matches at nationals in each of the team's last seven appearances dating back to 2019.
