Softball Travels to Cornell for non-conference DH

Bearcats and Big Red square off Tuesday at 2 p.m.

STORY LINES 

- Binghamton (13-22) dropped two out of three games at Maine this past weekend. Junior catcher Elisa Allen went 4-for-8 (.500) during the weekend with three home runs and seven RBI. The Bearcats as a team hit .333 against the Black Bears.

- Sophomore third baseman Rachel Carey ranks first in the America East conference and eighth in the nation with a .487 batting average. Allen is tops in the conference with both 14 home runs and 39 RBI. In addition, she is No. 17 in the nation with 0.41 home runs per game.

- Allen is tied for first all-time in program history with 44 career home runs. She shares the record with Jessica Phillips (2010-13). The America East record of 46 home runs is shared by a pair of Stony Brook alums - Bristen Brust (2002-05) and Hayley Durham (2003-06).

- Cornell (18-20) dropped two out of three games at home to Columbia this past weekend. Lauren Holt leads the Big Red with a .483 batting average, which currently ranks ninth in the nation. She is also No. 26 in the nation with 17 home runs, seventh with 0.45 home runs per game and No. 18 with 56 RBI.

- As a team, Cornell ranks No. 18 in the nation with a .346 batting average. The Big Red is also No. 17 with 1.84 doubles per game 

- Since Binghamton moved up to the NCAA Division I level in 2002, its all-time series against Cornell is tied at 15-15. Most recently, the two teams split a doubleheader at the Bearcats Sports Complex on April 23, 2025. The home team won the first game 6-2 but the Big Red recorded a 4-1 triumph in the nightcap. 

- Carey leads the America East in several other offensive categories - including runs (34), hits (57) and on-base percentage (.523). She is also second in home runs (seven), doubles (15) and OPS (1.318) as well as third in slugging percentage (.785) and RBI (26). 

- Graduate student outfielder Darien McDonough is second on the team and fourth in the America East with a .381 batting average. Junior outfielder Maddy Dodig is sixth in the conference (.366) and freshman outfielder Reese Izenstark is No. 11 (.353).

- Senior first baseman Emma Lawson - who is batting .303 - has 97 career RBI. She needs to drive in three more runs to become the 10th player in program history to reach the century mark.

- As a team, Binghamton leads the America East in batting (.315), home runs (37), doubles (71) and slugging percentage (.523). The Bearcats are also fourth in the nation with 2.03 doubles per game. 

- Dodig and Lawson both enter the games against Cornell with team-best, five-game hitting streaks. Allen, meanwhile, has reached base in a team-high 11 straight games.
