Men's Lacrosse to close out regular season Saturday at Vermont

Bearcats aim to defeat Catamounts for third game in a row

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's lacrosse team (2-10, 1-4 America East) closes out the regular season on the road with an America East Conference matchup against Vermont (5-6, 2-2 America East) at noon on Saturday at Virtue Field in Burlington, Vt.

About Binghamton
  • Binghamton is coming off a tightly contested 8-6 loss to Bryant last Saturday on April 18, where the Bearcats battled back from a four-goal halftime deficit to pull within one late in the fourth quarter.
  • Connor Winters anchored the defense in net in his final home game, recording 12 saves while also picking up three ground balls and causing a turnover. Winters continues to rank among the top goalkeepers in the country, as he is fifth in saves per game (13.50) and 10th in save percentage (.563).
  • Gavin Jacobsen led the Bearcats offensively with three points on two goals and one assist in his final home game. Coming off his performance against Bryant, he has totaled 14 points (12 goals, 2 assists) this season.
  • Andrew Girolamo continues to lead the Bearcats offensively and remains one of the top scorers in the America East. In a strong showing against the Bulldogs, he tallied two points (one goal, one assist). He currently ranks sixth in the conference in goals per game (2.17).
  • While playing at the faceoff X, Flynn Wilson ranks seventh in the America East in both ground balls per game (4.25) and in faceoff percentage (.523). 
 
About Vermont
  • Vermont enters Saturday's contest coming off a 14-10 win over UMass Lowell on April 18. The victory helped the Catamounts clinch a spot in the America East Men's Lacrosse Championship. Cullen Decker (4) and Ethan Pearson (3) combined for seven goals in the victory.
  • Zack Toll has been one of Vermont's top offensive catalysts this season. He ranks third in the America East in assists per game (1.91) and fifth in points per game (2.91). Helping Toll is Max Frattaroli, who ranks fifth in the league in goals per game (2.20). 
  • Walter Zhao ranks among the top faceoff experts in the country. He is third in the nation in faceoff percentage (.689) and ground balls per game (8.80). 
  • Defensively, Jack Combs leads the America East, while also ranking 10th nationally, in caused turnovers per game (2.18).
