Jacob Cotton Joins Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff

UPSL standout to work with Bearcat goalkeepers

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton men's soccer program has announced the hiring of Jacob Cotton as an assistant coach. He will work primarily with the Bearcat goalkeepers.

"We're thrilled to welcome Jacob Cotton to the program," interim head coach Tommy Moon said. "His experience, attention to detail, and commitment to player development make him a perfect fit for our environment. He will elevate our goalkeepers' performance and bring a competitive edge to our squad. Just as importantly, his passion for mentoring student-athletes aligns with our program's values, and we're excited to see the impact he'll have both on and off the field." 

"I'm excited to be here at Binghamton," Cotton said. "It's a really good group of guys and I hope to being my experience as a college and semi-pro goalkeeper and help make the team better." 

Cotton has extensive semi pro soccer experience. He won back-to-back UPSL National Championships (2024 & 2025)  with Soda City FC - based in Lexington,SC. He was named the Golden Glove winner as the best goalkeeper in the league. Also with Soda City FC, Cotton coached youths ages 6-18 in the art of goalkeeping. 

From there, Cotton played at the USL2 level with Delaware FC and since then,  has been on multiple trials with professional teams here in the states.

A 2023 graduate of Cal Poly Humboldt, Cotton went on to earn his master's degree at Newberry College the following year.
