VESTAL, N.Y. – This September, for the first time in 17 years, the Binghamton golf team will compete in a tri-match. That is part of the Bearcats' 2026 fall schedule, which the program announced Monday.
From Sept. 27-28, the Bearcats face both Colgate and Le Moyne in the Central New York Challenge. The first day of the match will be played at Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, N.Y., while the second and final day of the event takes place at En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y.
The last time Binghamton competed in a tri-match was in the spring of the 2008-09 season when the Bearcats finished second in the Patriot Shootout. Earlier that season on Oct. 19, Binghamton defeated both Cornell and St. Bonaventure after shooting 302/14-over par as a team. Jake Katz won medalist honors for the Bearcats after he posted a score of 72/even-par.
Binghamton will also compete in four tournaments throughout the fall season. The Bearcats open their season at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, hosted by Colgate from Sept. 5-6 at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, N.Y. Two weeks later, Binghamton plays in Navy's invitational from Sept. 19-20 at Naval Academy Golf Club.
After the calendar turns to October, the Bearcats host the latest edition of their home event, the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, from Oct. 4-5 at The Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, N.Y. Binghamton has finished in second place at the tournament in each of the last three seasons. In 2025, the Bearcats posted their second-lowest team score ever for a 36-hole tournament at 277-286 = 563/13-under par.
Binghamton closes out its fall season at the Bucknell Invitational. That will be held from Oct. 11-13 at Bucknell Golf Club.
Matthews Auto is the presenting sponsor of Bearcats Golf.
