VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton VISIONS Center for Student Excellence has announced the addition of three new staff members. They include Academic Advisors Malaina Foss and Sarah Trainor as well as Learning Specialist Christina Mack.

We're thrilled to welcome our new learning specialist and two academic advisors to Binghamton University Athletics," said Assistant Provost/Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Student Services and NCAA Compliance Dave Eagan. "Binghamton is a place where academic excellence and Division I athletics go hand in hand, and these three professionals bring a shared commitment to helping our student-athletes thrive both in the classroom and in competition. Their expertise and dedication will be tremendous assets as we continue to provide an outstanding academic experience and support our student-athletes in reaching their full potential."

Foss arrives from Arizona State, where she was a Learning Specialist the previous four years (2022-26). She worked with all of the Sun Devil Teams during her time in Tempe. During the 2021-22 academic year, Foss was a Learning Specialist/Academic Counselor at Boston College. She worked with the Eagles' football and ski programs during that stint.

Trainor comes from the University of Connecticut, where she was the Student-Athlete Success Program intern during the 2025-26 academic year. She provided guidance on event planning, role distribution and leadership. Trainor also assisted in the classroom planning of athletic leadership and career development.

During her undergraduate career at North Carolina (2020-24), Trainor was a member of the Tar Heels cross country and track & field team programs. She also ran for UConn (2024-26) while she was pursuing her master's degree in Sport Management.

Mack, meanwhile, has been working at Binghamton University since 2022. She spent the first three years (2022-25) as the Assistant Director of Clinical Experiences and was also the Director of Recruitment and Admissions the past two years (2024-26). In addition, Mack was the Director of Education at the nearby Roberson Museum and Science Center in downtown Binghamton from 2015-21.
