DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS
Career Development
Career development focuses on finding personal satisfaction in what you study, what you choose to do professionally and the extracurricular activities you engage in. All of these components prepare you for life after Binghamton University.
Emotional Wellness
Feelings are the lens through which people view the world. When we feel emotionally balanced, we are aware of and able to manage our emotions, and we have a realistic and mostly positive view of ourselves, others and the circumstances in our lives. Emotional wellness centers on an ability to understand and share our feelings in a productive manner, cope with life’s challenges (resiliency), practice self-care, create satisfying relationships and know when to ask for help.

Contact Chris Downey for more information.
Financial Wellness
Financial wellness is about having a full understanding of your current financial situation. As part of this assessment you need to honestly assess your current habits surrounding money and work to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to manage your resources effectively. This process involves acknowledging your short-term and long-term needs, as well as your financial goals.

Intellectual Wellness Resources
When someone is intellectually well, he/she is able to think critically, be open to new ideas, develop moral reasoning and make responsible decisions. While intellectual wellness is partly achieved through learning in the classroom, it can also be achieved through any type of activity that is mentally stimulating and creative.
Physical Wellness Resources
Physical wellness is a byproduct of individuals engaging in behaviors that positively impact one’s ability to get through his/her day without undue fatigue or physical stress. It is a result of engaging in healthful rather than destructive habits.

Spiritual Wellness
Introspection is the key to spiritual wellness. When an individual takes time to self-reflect and understand the connection between his/her values and actions, life becomes more balanced and harmonious. Spiritually well people work to be more compassionate, forgiving, grateful and kinder.
