BOSTON - Carlos Strong poured in 30 points and Boston (10-13, 7-4 America East) drained 13 three-pointers en route to a 66-54 victory over Binghamton (10-14, 3-9 America East) in an America East Conference men's basketball game Thursday night from Case Gym. Strong hit 8-of-10 three-pointers to pin the eighth loss on Binghamton in its last 10 games.

The Terriers trailed 33-32 at the break but opened the second half with a 20-7 run that featured four three-pointers. Binghamton, meanwhile, misfired on 8-of-10 to start the period, hitting just two field goals in the first 10 minutes. Down 52-40 with 9:36 left, the Bearcats went on a 12-3 run to pull within three, 55-52, with 4:45 left. But Strong nailed a three-pointer to stem the tide and Binghamton went scoreless over the final 3:10.

"I don't think we guarded very well," said BU head coach Al Walker. "We made a nice run at the end of the first half but didn't make good stops on the perimeter."

Freshman forward Lazar Trifunovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led the Bearcats with 14 points. Junior guard Mike Gordon (Plainfield, N.J.) added 11 points.

In the first half, the Terriers used a barrage of three-pointers to build a 14-point lead before the Bearcats stormed back. In a span of less than five minutes, Boston went on a 19-3 run that featured seven threes. But Binghamton began to chip away, with Trifunovic scoring six of his 10 first-half points during the late run. Trailing 32-22 with 3:01 to play, the Bearcats scored the final 11 points of the half to carry a 33-32 lead into intermission.

Binghamton returns home to host Maine at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
