DURHAM, N.H. -- Visiting Binghamton (9-10, 5-2 AE) opened the second half with an 18-5 run and shot 65% in the final stanza to hold off New Hampshire (5-13, 2-4 AE) 67-58 in an America East game Thursday night from Lundholm Gym. With their eighth win in the last 10 games, BU climbed into a first-place tie in the conference with UMBC.

Sophomore forward Lazar Trifunovic (Belgrade, Serbia), BU's America East Player of the Game, scored a game-high 19 points to pace four players in double figures. Trifunovic hit 9-of-19 shots to reach double digits for the 16th time this season.

Binghamton led New Hampshire 58-47 with 4:36 remaining when the Wildcats began to fight their way back. Using an 11-4 run, New Hampshire pulled to within 62-58 at the 1:59 mark. But a jumper by senior guard Mike Gordon (Plainfield, N.J.) and two free throws by Brandon Herbert (Baltimore, Md.) put the game out of reach.

"We just grinded it out," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "We had solid play across the board ... everyone contributed tonight. I challenged them at halftime and these guys responded with toughness."

Gordon wound up with 13 points, and junior guard Dwayne Jackson (Akron, Ohio) and senior guard Richard Forbes (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) each scored 10. Junior forward Reggie Fuller (Missouri City, Texas) had another solid game for BU, contributing nine points, nine rebounds and four blocks.

Binghamton came out on fire in the second half as the Bearcats erased a 27-24 halftime deficit and turned it into a 10-point lead. Gordon and Forbes each scored five points during the 18-5 run, which spanned six minutes.

Freshman forward Rony Tchatchoua scored 17 points and freshman forward Dane DiLegro had nine points and 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.

Binghamton next travels to Maine to face the Black Bears on Sunday.
