VESTAL, N.Y. -- Senior guard
Mike Gordon (Plainfield, N.J.) scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as Binghamton (5-9, 1-1 AE) rolled past Boston University (3-10, 0-1 AE) 69-49 in an America East game Sunday afternoon from the Events Center. The win was Binghamton's fourth straight at home.
Gordon and the BU offense were sharp all afternoon. The Bearcats shot 64% in the first half when they built a 34-21 halftime lead. When the Terriers trimmed their deficit to seven, 50-43, midway through the second half, Binghamton responded with a resounding 15-2 run that featured seven points from Gordon and four from junior forward
Reggie Fuller (Missouri City, Texas).
"Our guys clicked on all cylinders today," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "Boston can score a lot of points and holding a team like that to 49 points is big. We have to learn how to be aggressive on the road like we were today."
The Bearcats displayed some outstanding interior passing that resulted in high percentage shots near the rim. Four players had two or more assists, led by senior guard
Richard Forbes (Far Rockaway), who was held scoreless for the first time this season but contributed a team-high six assists.
Sophomore forward
Lazar Trifunovic (Belgrade, Serbia) recorded his sixth double-double this season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Trifunovic hit 7-of-11 and added four assists and a steal.
Freshman guard
Chretien Lukusa (Toronto, Ontario) added a season-high 13 points and junior
Milos Klimovic (Sarajevo, Bosnia) chipped in nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
Binghamton begins a two-game road swing at Hartford on Wednesday.
