VESTAL, N.Y. -- In a game slowed by 52 fouls and 75 free throw attempts, Darryl Crawford poured in 29 points and visiting Manhattan (6-3) sank 31 free throws to rally past Binghamton (4-4) 86-80 Saturday afternoon from the Events Center. The Bearcats shot 50% and led for most of the game until the Jaspers took the lead for good with 4:48 left. Manhattan then converted 5-of-6 free throws in the final 49 seconds to seal the win.

Binghamton struggled in the closing two minutes of each half, squandering an eight-point lead in the final 2:03 of the first half and then misfiring on 6-of-7 shots in the game's final 1:55. The 86 points allowed were the second most in the five-year history of the Events Center.

"It was a tough game today," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "Our guys didn't fight to the end and our defense was bad. Manhattan got good second-chance shots and they were more hungry today."

Junior guard D.J. Rivera, the leading scorer in the America East (20.3 ppg.), led four players in double-figures with a team-high 23 points. Rivera hit 7-of-12 from the floor and added five rebounds. Senior forward Dwayne Jackson produced 17 points - 12 of those coming in the first half. Senior forward Reggie Fuller and junior guard Emanuel Mayben added 11 points apiece before each fouled out.

In all, BU was whistled for a season-high 31 fouls and Manhattan converted 31-of-45 free throws. The Bearcats were also hampered by 19 turnovers.

Binghamton looked strong in the first half, building a 38-29 lead with 2:03 left before Manhattan ended the period with a 9-0 run that was aided by four BU turnovers. The game, which featured 15 ties and nine lead changes, was even at the break, 38-38.

In the second half, Rivera drilled a pair of three-pointers and Fuller added five points during an opening 15-5 run that put BU ahead 53-43, with 14:31 left. But Manhattan chipped away at the deficit and finally knotted the score at 66-66 with 7:22 remaining. The game was tied 72-72 with 5:00 to play after a Fuller dunk, but Manhattan responded with four free throws in a 45-second span and never relinquished the lead. Two BU starters and three players in all fouled out of the game.
