DURHAM, N.H. -- Junior guard Malik Alvin scored a season-high 22 points to lead visiting Binghamton (12-7, 5-2 AE) over New Hampshire (7-10, 2-3 AE) 60-47 Thursday night from Lundholm Gymnasium. The win was BU's eighth in the last 11 games and kept the Bearcats in first place in the America East.

Alvin scored 17 of his points in the second half when BU stretched its lead to as many as 15 points before settling on the 13-point margin. The Bearcats opened the second half with a 12-5 run to go ahead 45-33. After the Wildcats cut their deficit to eight, 49-41, Alvin took over, scoring seven points in a 1:58 span as BU went on an 8-0 run to restore a double-digit cushion.

Binghamton's 2-3 zone defense limited UNH to just 28% from the floor for the game, including 15% from three-point range (4-of-27).

Junior guard Emanuel Mayben had a solid game with nine points, five rebounds and four assists. Freshman center Kyrie Sutton matched his season high with eight rebounds and senior forward Reggie Fuller added eight points. Junior guard D.J. Rivera, the leading scorer in the America East, was held to a season-low six points - the first single-digit game he has had all season.

"It's great to win on the road and especially with D.J. (Rivera) not playing one of his better games," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "But the other guys stepped up. Guys paid attention to details. I challenged them in the locker room and they stood up from start to finish."

The Bearcats jumped out to an eight-point lead early in the first half as UNH misfired on eight of its first 11 shots. After the Wildcats worked their way back into the game with three three-pointers in a four-minute stretch, BU closed out the half with an 8-1 lead to carry a 33-28 lead into intermission. Mayben netted all nine of his points in the first period and Sutton grabbed seven rebounds.
