VESTAL, N.Y. -- Joe Zeglinski hit 7-of-11 three-pointers to lead visiting Hartford to a comfortable 72-61 win over Binghamton (6-11, 3-1 AE) in an America East men's basketball game Monday night at the Events Center. The Hawks (6-11, 3-1 AE) drained 15-of-32 from beyond the arc and led by as many as 31 points in a game broadcast on Time Warner Cable Sports.

Binghamton was unable to solve Hartford's 1-3-1 zone from the opening whistle, missing nine of its first 11 shots and committing five turnovers in the game's first eight minutes. Hartford led 15-13 with 9:07 left in the first half before a 25-5 run put the game out of reach early. The Hawks nailed six three-pointers during the run, which spanned 7:41, and took a 40-20 lead into intermission. Hartford had more three-pointers (9) than BU had field goals (8) in the first half and BU compounded matters with 12 turnovers.

The Bearcats scored the first four points of the second half but Hartford responded with a 16-5 run that featured two threes from Zeglinski. The Hawks pushed their lead to as many as 31 points before BU brought it back to 11 in a battle of the bench players down the stretch.

Junior center Kyrie Sutton was the lone bright spot for BU, which shot 37% and hit just 6-of-20 from beyond the arc. Sutton produced career-highs of 21 points (16 in second half) and 14 rebounds for his first career double-double. He hit 8-of-13 and pulled down seven offensive boards. Senior forward Moussa Camara added 10 points but hit just 3-of-14 from the floor. Senior forward and leading scorer Greer Wright returned after missing three games with an ankle injury but was a non-factor with no points (0-for-3) and two rebounds in 26 minutes. Excluding Sutton's post production, BU shot 29% for the game.

"We just didn't make shots in the first half but I thought we came out in the second and played the way we are capable of playing," head coach Mark Macon said. "The turnovers killed us. We can't give away possessions against a good team. We just can't dig tht deep of a hole and expect to get out of it."

Zeglinski and Sutton were named the America East Players of the Game, sponsored by Security Mutual Life.

Binghamton travels across I-88 to face longtime SUNY rival Albany on Thursday.
