Men's Soccer Heads to UMass Lowell

Bearcats and River Hawks kick off Saturday at 3 p.m.




STORY LINES

Binghamton (4-10-0, 2-1-0 AE) lost 1-0 to Columbia in a non-conference game on Wednesday night. Sophomore forward Alex Varkatzas continues to lead the Bearcats with two goals and four points so far this season. 

UMass Lowell (6-8-1, 2-1-1 AE) defeated NJIT 3-1 in its most recent game on Wednesday night. Wuilito Fernandez has a team-best five goals for the River Hawks so far this season.

In the only previous Division I era meeting between the programs, Binghamton won 3-0 on Oct. 12, 2013. Current sophomore midfielder Logan Roberts had a goal and an assist in the win. 

Defensively, the Bearcats have allowed one goal or fewer in 12 of their first 14 matches. They have recorded three shutouts during the season and have shut out two of their last four opponents. 

Three freshmen have become full-time starters for the Bearcats this season. Christian Dam has started all 14 games at center back while Ben Ovetsky and Isaiah Barrett have been mainstays in the midfield.
