ATHENS, Ga. – Host Georgia (3-6) rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the bottom of the ninth and then scored the winning run in the 11th inning to post a 4-3 victory over Binghamton (3-5) Friday night at Foley Field.

The Bearcats had the six-time SEC champion Bulldogs on the ropes in the ninth, holding a 3-1 lead. But Georgia benefited from three straight walks to open the inning and the hosts plated the two tying runs on just one hit. Binghamton kept its hopes alive with a double play and then a two-out infield pop-up with the winning Georgia run at third.

Binghamton put runners on base in each of the 10th and 11th frames but couldn't capitalize. Georgia then took advantage of walks in their half of the11th as the first two hitters reached on free passes. The Bulldogs ended the game with an RBI double to center field.

After giving up a run in the sixth inning, BU rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth inning to grab the 3-1 lead. Sophomore catcher Nick Pancerella walked to start the inning and senior shortstop John Howell dropped down a sacrifice bunt, moving pinch runner Darian Herncane to second. One out later, senior center fielder Bill Bereszniewicz laced an RBI double to left and senior second baseman Daniel Nevares followed with an RBI single to center, giving Binghamton a 2-1 lead. Nevares scampered to third and home and successive wild pitches to push BU's lead to 3-1.

Junior starter Jack Rogalla went 7.0 innings and scattered five hits and a run in the no-decision. He struck out two and lowered his season ERA to 3.00 in three starts. Sophomore reliever Mike Bunal (L, 0-1) took the loss after working the final two innings. He struck out the side in the 10th and allowed just two hits. Bearcats pitchers issued nine walks in the game.

Nevares went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Bereszniewicz also had two hits and an RBI. Junior left fielder Jake Thomas and senior DH Shaun McGraw each went 2-for-4.

Binghamton outhit Georgia 9-7. The Bulldogs also cut down several BU opportunities with three double plays.

The teams continue their three-game set with a single game at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Sophomore right hander Jake Cryts will take the mound against Georgia's Sean McLaughlin.
