ALBANY, N.Y.- The Binghamton wrestling team won two matches and nearly took down a nationally-ranked foe in a third Sunday. BU drilled LIU Post, 47-0, and Nassua Community College, 46-0, before pushing #14 North Carolina in a 19-12 decision at the Journeymen/ASICs Northeast Duals.
 
The Bearcats recorded shutout wins over LIU Post and Nassau Community College to start competition Sunday. BU then took on the Tar Heels, challenging UNC with four individual victories. Steven Bulzomi, Vincent DePrez, Jack McKeever, and Steve Schneider each notched wins to get the Bearcats within 13-12 with two matches remaining. However, UNC closed out the contest with two wins to end the bout.

McKeever and DePrez won all three of their matches Sunday, while Bulzomi, Schneider, Jacob Nicholson, Anthony DePrez, Mark Tracy, and Brock Cvijanovich won two bouts apiece.

BU (4-2) will compete at the New York State Championships on Saturday, November 21. The event will be held at Cornell University.
