COLUMBUS, OH—The Binghamton (0-0) women's lacrosse team kicks off their 2015 season at 1 p.m. today at No. 10/12 Ohio State (1-0). The Bearcats are led by thrid year coach
Stephanie Allen, and are coming off of a 2014 season that saw them set a program record for wins (7).
The Bearcats return 10 of 11 goal scorers from last year's team, including
Brianne Arthur (34),
Renee Kiviat (21), and
Sophia Racciatti (20). Arthur's 34 goals set a freshman program record.
Binghamton returns one America East All-Conference selection,
Renee Kiviat, and two All-Rookie selections,
Brianne Arthur and
Callon Williams.
Senior
Alex Fisher is the lone returning captain from last year's team. She is joined this season by Seniors
Renee Kiviat and
Rachel Antelmi, and Junior
Allie Rodgers.
This will be the first ever matchup between the two teams. The only common opponent from last season was Canisius, who beat the Buckeyes 11-10 on March 1, and the Bearcats 19-10 on March 17. The Buckeyes are ranked 10th in the Media Poll and 12th in the Coaches Poll. They are the first of two ranked opponents on Binghamton's schedule. The Bearcats also play at No. 16/18 Stony Brook on Wednesday, April 1.
