VESTAL, N.Y. - Each coming off a loss to a BIG EAST program, Binghamton men's basketball (1-1) returns home to host Central Connecticut State (1-1) Wednesday night at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. The Bearcats, who are in the midst of a four-games-in-eight-days stretch, are looking to go 2-0 at home to start the 2016-17 season. Tip is at 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.Â
Binghamton put up a solid performance against St. John's on Monday, losing 77-61. The Bearcats kept the game within single digits until midway through the second half when the Red Storm used a 15-0 run to pull away. Redshirt sophomore guard
J.C. Show led the team in scoring for the second straight game, netting 12 points with five boards and three steals. Freshman guard
Fard Muhammad and senior guard
Marlon Beck each hit three triples - as BU hit 10-of-29 from three-point range. Binghamton trailed just 39-32 at the half and forced 16 SJU turnovers for the game.
Central Connecticut State opened its season by overpowering fellow America East member Hartford 75-60. Four players in double figures and 55 percent shooting in the second half spelled victory. On Sunday, the Blue Devils lost at Seton Hall 82-58. Central returns four starters from last year's 4-25 team and was picked to finish last in the Northeast Conference.
The Blue Devils lead the all-time series with Binghamton 4-1. But BU took last year's high-scoring affair in New Britain, 81-75 behind 27 points from
Willie Rodriguez and 17 from
Marlon Beck. The lead changed hands 12 times before the Bearcats sealed the road win.Â
