Swimming & Diving Completes Bucknell Invitational

Both men and women finish seventh

LEWISBURG, Pa.—The Binghamton swimming & diving program completed the Bucknell Invitational today. Both the men and women finished in seventh place out of nine teams at the three day event, with the women scoring 368.5 points and the men 655.


MEN
Ross Bernstein, Matthew Devito, and Ryan O'Connell led the men with two top-10 finishes each. Bernstein finished fourth in the 400 IM (4:01.00) and third in the 200 fly (1:51.49). Devito had tenth place finishes in the 100 fly (50.65) and 200 fly (153.43). O'Connell finished eighth in both the three-meter diving (235.40) and the one-meter diving (228.10). Ryan McPherson joined Bernstein and Devito in the 200 fly top-10, as his time of 153.15 in the finals earned him a seventh place finish. Other top finishers include Liam Cashin in the 100 breast (ninth place,57.97), Tyer Myers in the 100 back (eighth place, 51.97) and Zachary Kaplan in the 200 back (10th place, 1:51.26). In relays the men finished seventh in the 400 free, eighth in the 200 free, and ninth in both the 200 and 400 medley.


WOMEN
Maria Trivino and Courtney Foley were the top-10 finishers on the women's side. Trivino placed ninth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.60 and chipped in a 16th place finish in the 200 IM (2:08.22). Foley was seventh in the 100 fly with a 56.60 pace. She also finished 14th in the 100 free at 52.67. Just outside of the top-10 was Katie Chung at 12th place in the 400 IM (4:30.93) and Brooke Pettis at 12th place in the 100 fly (56.69) and 200 fly (2:05.53). In relays the women finished ninth in the 400 free, 10th in the 200 medley, and 13th in both the 400 medley and 800 free. Jaime Campbell was the team's top diver with 20th place in the one-meter (172.20) and 22nd place in the three-meter (179.15).


Towson won both the men's and women's side of the three day event. The Bearcats will return to action on January 6 in Miami as part of Florida International's FIU Open Sprint Invite.
