Swimming & Diving wins four events in Day Three of AE Meet

Men remain in second place, women fifth heading into final day

LEXINGTON, Va. – Binghamton collected four individual titles, highlighting its performance during the third day of the America East Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday at the VMI Aquatic Center. With one day remaining in the meet, the Bearcat men are second to UMBC while the women are in fifth place.

Junior Harrison Lambert won his second consecutive 400 IM title, clocking a time of 3:55.07. He staged a furious final lap to overtake Borys Endle of NJIT and win by .27 seconds.

Also retaining his crown was sophomore Evan Peters in the 200 free. He recorded a time of 1:36.79 to win his second gold medal of the weekend. Peters captured the 500 free on Thursday evening.

Fellow sophomore Cameron Stetzer also won his second event of the championships on Friday evening, taking top honors in the 100 breaststroke (53.99). He repeated as the America East's 200 IM champion the previous day. 

Finally, freshman Samuel Pikofsky-Christiansen won the men's one-meter diving event with a score of 208.20. He surpassed second-place Chris Buonocore of Bryant, who scored 291.05 points and had won the three-meter event on Wednesday night.

Three other Binghamton men earned bronze medals on Friday night. They include senior Liam Preston in the 200 free (1:37.91), sophomore Jackson Kennard in the 100 breast (54.57) and freshman Isaih Francis in the 100 back (49.08). 

On the women's side, senior Maria Pignatelli finally earned her first career individual medal, earning the bronze in the 100 breast (1:02.46). On Thursday, she was a close fourth place in the 50 free.

Also earning a bronze medal on Friday night was sophomore Eva Smith in the women's 100 back (55.33). 

The fourth and final day of the America East Championships begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
