VESTAL, N.Y. - Coming off a 14-point road win, Binghamton men's basketball looks to keep the momentum going when the Bearcats (6-19, 3-9 America East) travel to Burlington to face Vermont (15-12, 7-5 AE) Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Patrick Gym, where the Catamounts have won six straight against Binghamton.
QUICK HITS•   With just four regular season games remaining, BU sits just a half-game out of the fifth playoff position. •   Binghamton will try to snap a six-year drought at Patrick Gym — one of the toughest venues for visiting America East opponents. The last BU win in Burlington was epic, however. In 2009, BU's title team rallied from 25 points down in the second half to win 85-83. Binghamton has held four of its last seven opponents to less than 60 points.       •   Junior guard Marlon Beck (9.6 ppg.) ranks fourth in the AE in threes/game (2.4) and is third on BU's all-time made three-pointers list (151).  •   Sophomore forward Willie Rodriguez is sixth in the AE in scoring (14.6 ppg.) and fifth in rebounding (6.6 rpg.). •   Freshman center Thomas Bruce is averaging 7.5 points (on 57% FG) and 5.1 rebounds in league play.   •   Binghamton's current rotation features no seniors and just two juniors. The 11 underclassmen gives BU the eighth-highest underclassmen percentage in the country (73.3%).LAST TIME OUT•   Last Thursday in Hartford, sophomore forward Willie Rodriguez tied his career-high with 27 points and BU led for 35 minutes en route to a 68-54 win.•   Rodriguez reached the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season and added a game-high 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. •   The Bearcats wrapped it up by outscoring the Hawks 17-7 to close the game.•   Freshman center Thomas Bruce added 12 points.•   Binghamton held Hartford to just 35 percent shooting.ABOUT VERMONT•   Vermont has gone 2-3 in its last five games but two of the losses have come against league-leading Stony Brook and No. 2 Albany.•   On Sunday, UVM shot 55% and outrebounded smaller Hartford 44-22 en route to a 92-81 home win.•   The Catamounts put five in double figures led by Kurt Steidl's 26 points.•   UVM has balanced scoring with five players averaging nine or more points. The team ranks second in the AE in field goal percentage (.476). •   Vermont has won 20 or more games in seven consecutive seasons and in 12 of the last 14 seasons.•   The Catamounts returned four starters and nine lettermen from a 20-14 team that finished second in the AE and reached the CBI semis last year.•   Vermont was picked to finish third in the Preseason Poll.     ALL-TIME SERIES VS. VERMONT•   Vermont has won 11 of the last 13 head-to-head meetings and the Catamounts lead the all-time series 26-7•   Seven of the Catamounts' wins since 2010 have been by double digits.•   The teams split the season series last year with each team winning on its home floor.•   On the road, BU is 2-12 against Vermont and has lost the last six.•   Last month in Vestal, Vermont shot 54 percent in the second half and used a 10-0 run midway through the period to hold off BU, 61-52. Junior guard Marlon Beck netted a game-high 18 points. NEXT UP•   The Bearcats return home to host UMass Lowell in a women's-men's doubleheader at the Events Center on Saturday. Lowell holds a 7-3 cushion in the all-time series but BU won the first go-around 64-57 in Mass. Tip is at 4:30 p.m.  Â
