BURLINGTON, VT.--The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (5-11, 1-4 America East) travels to Vermont to take on the Catamounts (6-9, 2-3 America East) in the Bearcats' regular season finale on Saturday, April 30. The America East finale will be at 3 p.m. at Vermont's Virtue Field.
QUICK HITS
This could be the last collegiate game for seniors
Erin McNulty,
Sophia Racciatti,
Allie Rodgers,
Marissa Rose, and
Alex Szelewski.
The Bearcats still have a chance to clinch their first ever postseason berth this weekend, but need some help. The Bearcats secure the No. 4 seed in the America East if they beat Vermont by two goals, and UMBC loses to New Hampshire. They would play the winner of Saturday's matchup between Stony Brook vs. Albany in the semifinals of the America East playoffs if that scenario happens.
Two Bearcats--
Rebecca Golderman and
Callon Williams--have tallied 30+ points this year. This is the third consecutive season in which the Bearcats have had multiple 30 point scorers.
Rebecca Golderman leads all freshmen in the America East in goals (27) and points (30). If she finishes the season leading in these categories, it would be the first time in program history that Binghamton has produced the leading freshman scorer in a season.
SCOUTING VERMONT
The Catamounts come into this game seventh in the nation in free position percentage (.517), and are coming off a 15-10 loss at a neutral site vs. Coastal Carolina. Alex Bernier (19 G, 26 A) and Vanessa VanderZalm (34 G, 9 A) are leading the team in scoring, while Maddy Kuras has started 13 of 15 games in the cage.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The two teams have met 14 times, with Binghamton's last victory coming in 2013. Last season the Catamounts won 18-7 at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
