POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The swimming and diving programs put on strong performances in the Marist dual on Saturday but both teams fell to Marist in a close meet. The men were topped by Marist by a score of 156-144, while the Binghamton women finished with 135 points behind Marist's 165 point team total.Â
Men
The BInghamton men recorded seven individual first place finishes and two second place finishes in the relays.
Liam Cashin led the Bearcats with three first place finishes while
Alex Brion added two. Cashin recorded the top time in the 100 breast (59.97), 200 breast (2:10.36) and the 200 IM (1:56.40). Brion continued his undefeated reign this season in the 50 free (21.54) and the 100 free (47.83). Other top finishes include, Zach Kaplan in the 100 back (52.68) and
Ryan O'Connell in the 1 meter dive (286.05 points). The 200 medley relay of Kaplan, Cashin, Brion and
Eric Wang finished second with a time of 1:36.87. The 400 free relay of Brion,
Cooper Langanis,
Travis Blank and
Tyler Meyers also finished second with a time of 3:12.54.
Women
The women grabbed first place in five individual events and both relays on Saturday. Top finishes include,
Sydney Atendido in the 100 breast (1:07.67),
Morgan Harrington in the 200 butterfly (2:11.59),
Maria Trivino in the 200 breast (2:28.49),
Brooke Pettis in the 100 butterfly (59.61) and
Rebecca Nelson in the 200 IM (2:13.68). The 200 medley relay of Atendido,
Kristina Keefe,
Courtney Foley and
Katherine Scott recorded a time of 1:52.29 to finish first. The 400 free relay of Foley,
Abby Koerwitz,
Kaitlyn Lange and
Olivia Santos also finished first with a time of 3:39.89.Â
The women will travel to the America East championships in Worcester, Mass February 9-12, and the men are back in action at the ECAC Championships March 3-6.Â
