Swimming & Diving Travels to Colgate

Both programs travel to Hamilton for a dual meet

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton swimming & diving teams will face off against Colgate University this weekend. The meet is set to start at noon at the Lineberry Natatorium.

Both teams posted impressive victories last weekend at Niagara University. The men defeated Niagara 191-107, while the women defeated Niagara 182.50-117.50, and Siena 235-53. The women improved to 2-1 on the season, whereas the men are 2-0.
Men
Alex Brion remains undefeated on the season in the free style sprints, winning the 50 free (21.45) and the 100 free (47.62) in last weekend's matchup at Niagara. On the diving side, Ryan O'Connell also won both events he competed in scoring 257.05 in the one meter dive and 233.30 in the three meter dive.

Binghamton's counterpart will look for a strong performance from Sophomore Colton Hall who posted first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.02), 100-yard freestyle (48.02) and 100-yard butterfly (51.93). Colgate (0-1) was off last and lost their first meet of the season to Loyola two weeks ago.

Last season the men's team defeated Colgate 192-100. Returners Cooper Langanis, Zach Kaplan, Alex Brion, Ryan O'Connell and Cooper Langanis all posted first place finishes in last seasons meet. Binghamton holds a 3-2 record against Colgate in the schools last five head-to-head meets.

Women
For the women, they recorded 10 individual and two relay victories in last weekends meet.  Kristen Pozmanter, Olivia Santos, Sydney Atendido, Brooke Pettis, Abby Koerwitz, Nicole Digiacomo, and Maria Trivino all posted first place finishes for the Bearcats.

Olivia Santos leads the team on the season with the fastest times in the 50 free (24.92) and the 100 free (54.29). She will look to continue her success this weekend. Pozmanter, Atendido and Santos all posted two top place finishes for the Bearcats last weekend, and will look to build upon that this weekend as well.

Colgate will be counting on  Megan Gallagher, Maggie Carney, and Caroline LaPlante to have big performances. All three athletes posted top places finishes two weeks ago verse Loyola. Gallagher won the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.88) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.51). Carney won the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.63) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.21).LaPlante swept the diving events with wins in the 1-meter and the 3-meter.

Last season the Bearcats beat Colgate 150-144, and identical to the men's team, holds a 3-2 advantage in the team's last five meets.
