Swimming & Diving Tops Colgate

Both programs beat Colgate in dual meet

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton swimming & diving programs both recorded victories at Lineberry Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. The women's team won 162-134 and the men's team won 192-105.

"I'm proud of the way our team performed today," said Head Coach Brad Smith. "We continue to get better with every race. We're building good momentum heading to the Bucknell Invite in a couple weeks."

Women
The Bearcats recorded two relay victories and seven individual first place finishes in the dual meet.

The 200 medley of Kristina Keefe, Sydney Atendido, Brooke Pettis and Olivia Santos grabbed first place with a time of 1:49.56. The Bearcats team of Atendido, Kaitlyn Lange, Courtney Foley and Santos also won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:38.36.

Three women recorded two first place finishes for the Bearcats. Kristen Pozmanter won the 1000 free (10:43.96) and the 500 free (5:16.52), Brooke Pettis won the 100 butterfly (57.77) and the 200 butterfly (2:08.74) and Olivia Santos won the 50 free (24.66) and the 100 free (53.87).

Sydney Atendido also won the 100 breast (1:04.14) for the Bearcats.

Men
The Bearcats posted two relay first place finishes and 10 individual victories on the afternoon.

The 200 medley team of Zach Kaplan, Patrick Wilson, Matt DeVito and Alex Brion grabbed first place with a time of 1:36.49. Binghamton also won 400 free relay (DeVito, Brion, Cooper Langanis and Travis Blank) with a time of 3:12.68.

Ryan O'Connell won both diving events for the second weekend in row, scoring 288.90 points in the one-meter and 264.15 in the three-meter. Alex Brion continued to dominate the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 free (21.30 ) and the 100 free (47.75) while Patrick Wilson won the 200 breast (2:11.01) and the 100 breast (59.91) while Zach Kaplan won the 100 back (53.09) and the 200 back (1:56.36).

Other first place finishers for the Bearcats included, Cooper Langanis in the 500 free (4:58.75) and Ross Bernstein in the 200 butterfly (1:55.45).

Both teams take a short break from competition and return at the Bucknell Five-Way meet on November 17.
