VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton wrestling team will compete in their final two duals of the season this weekend. On Friday night, the Bearcats will host Buffalo at 7 p.m. at the West Gym for this season's Code Green event. On Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. they will host Bloomsburg in their regular season finale and senior day celebrations. The Bearcats will honor their lone senior Dylan Caruana preceding the match.Â
A 141-pound wrestler from Kenmore, New York, Caruana has amassed 57 career wins, including 21 by fall, and is finishing his collegiate career with an excellent season this winter. He has won 13 matches, including five duals, and ranks second on the team with five pins. The Binghamton University Athlete of the Week on February 6, he posted three straight bonus point wins, including a 22-second pin against Sacred Heart. Two seasons ago, he won 19 matches and placed third at the New York State Championship.
Off the mat, he has been an accomplished student, both as an undergraduate and now as a graduate student at Binghamton. A multiple AD Honor Roll and scholar-athlete recipient, he completed his bachelor's degree in the fall and posted a 3.23 GPA in a double major of geography and English. He then entered BU's Graduate School of Education and is now pursuing a master's degree in English Adolescent Education.Â
Binghamton is 8-6 overall in duals and 8-4 in EIWA. They are currently coming off a tough 21-15 loss to Pennsylvania last Saturday. Leading the Bearcats is Steve Schneider who is 28-5 on the season and ranked at No. 15 in the latest InterMat rankings.
Buffalo is 10-6 overall in duals this season and is coming off a 20-17 win at Northern Illinois for its program-best fourth Mid-American Conference win of the season.
Bloomsburg 4-16 overall and 0-6 against league opponents. The Huskies are coming off their fourth consecutive loss to Clarion last Friday.
In the all-time series, Buffalo leads 20-8. The Bulls won last year's dual, 24-12, at Alumni Arena.
