VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton women's lacrosse team heads to Hamilton, NY this Wednesday, February 22 for a non-league contest against Colgate. The game is set for a 5 p.m. start at Beyer-Small '76 Field.
The Bearcats are coming off a 16-5 loss to #5 Syracuse last Saturday.
Valerie DeNapoli and
Rebecca Golderman each scored two goals in the game.
Callon Williams scooped up a team-high five ground balls and Golderman recorded six successful draw controls. In their season opener against Lafayette on Feb. 16, Golderman netted four goals, while
Tiffany Ryan and
Jacqueline Kennedy each scored two.
The Raiders are coming off a 14-11 victory against the Vermont Catamounts. As a team, Colgate had 32 shots, eight forced turnovers, nine free-position shots and 12 ground balls. Senior Isabel Kreitler tied her career high in goals with five while shooting 2-3 from free position. Junior Haley O'Hanlon also tied her career high in goals with four while also shooting 2-3 from free position with six draw controls. Both Kreitler and O'Hanlon are preseason All-Patriot League selections and O'Hanlon was named Patriot League Midfielder of the week after her performance against Vermont.
The last time the two teams met, Colgate topped BU 13-11. In the high-scoring matchup at home, Williams netted five goals for the Bearcats while Golderman scored three. Colgate has won each of the last four seasons. In 2012, Binghamton beat Colgate by a score of 16-11.
