Men's basketball hosts Maine Saturday

BU plays regular-season finale at 2; Seniors Beck and Rinaldi to be honored pregame

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball will honor its two seniors and then play for the No. 6 seed in the upcoming America East tournament when the Bearcats (12-18, 3-12 AE) host Maine (6-24, 2-13 AE) in the regular-season finale at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dr. Bai Lee Court at the Events Center. 

Binghamton will have either the No. 6 or No. 7 seed when the America East tournament begins next Wednesday. A win over Maine plus an Albany victory over Hartford Saturday night will give BU the No. 6 spot.

Seniors Marlon Beck and John Rinaldi will be honored in a pregame ceremony. The pair have combined to play in 222 career games over four years.

Beck and Rinaldi wrap up four-year careers on Senior Day
Seniors Marlon Beck and John Rinaldi will be honored before the game for their four-year careers. Beck will be playing his 122nd game and will graduate as a 1,000-point scorer and the program's all-time 3-point leader. He also ranks eighth in the America East in scoring, first in steals and fourth in assists among active players. Rinaldi will be playing in his 102nd game. He has been a 6th-man spark with leadership and scholarship throughout his career.

About Maine
•    The Black Bears have lost 11 of their last 12 games
•    Maine had the midweek "bye" and hasn't played since losing 74-56 at Albany last Sunday
•    The team's two AE wins came over UMass Lowell and Hartford
•    Maine is young with three underclassmen starters, including two freshmen
•    Junior guard Wes Myers ranks fifth in the AE in scoring (16.9 ppg.) but has been held out of the last two games

•    On Jan. 29 in Bangor, BU used a 14-2 run midway through the second half to pull away from Maine 65-54. Sophomore guard Timmy Rose scored a then-career-high 20 points - 14 coming in the second half. Junior forward Willie Rodriguez joined the 1,000-point club early in the second half when his jump hook in the lane dropped at the 18:00 mark. He became the first Bearcat in 15 years to reach the milestone in his junior season.
