Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 17 Albany

The Bearcats regular season finale is set for a 1 p.m. start Saturday at the Bearcats Sports Complex

VESTAL, N.Y- The Binghamton women's lacrosse team (6-10, 2-3 AE) will play host to the No. 17 UAlbany Great Danes (10-4, 4-1 AE) on Saturday, April 29th. First draw is set for 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

The Binghamton Bearcats lost to New Hampshire in their previous game by a score of 11-6. Binghamton has now dropped 4 of their last 5 games and this Saturday's matchup with the Great Danes is the last regular season game for both teams. Junior Tiffany Ryan had a game-high three goals against the Wildcats of New Hampshire and Jacqueline Kennedy added two of her own. Emma Jehle made 16 saves in net for the Bearcats. Currently, Jehle is ranked 12th in the NCAA in saves with 160. She also leads the America East in saves per game (9.53) and ground balls per game (3.00). The junior goalie is second in save percentage (.470) and fifth in goals against average (12.03). New Hampshire has never lost to Binghamton in the history of the two programs and that trend continued last Saturday (16-0). It was a pivotal game in the America East standings as Binghamton now finds itself a spot below New Hampshire and 5th overall. In conference play the Bearcats are 2-0 at home and 0-3 on the road.

UAlbany has had a successful season thus far despite a grueling schedule. The Great Danes have played five teams that were ranked inside the top-10 nationally. Each of those games were on the road, including a victory over #8 Cornell on April 11th. UAlbany is currently ranked 17th in the nation and the Great Danes are riding a five game win streak. Their most recent win came at Dartmouth with a final score of 11-8. The UAlbany offense is lead by senior midfielder Sarah Martin who has 52 goals and 31 assists this season. Martin ranks second in goals per game (3.20) and sixth in assists per game (2.20) during conference play. Emma Powlin is another major factor for this offense and has contributed 54 points for the Great Danes this season. The junior midfielder is second in assists per game (3.00) in America East play. Freshman Erin Leghart has started 10 games in net for the Purple and Gold this year. She has made 75 saves thus far and has posted a 9-3 record.

The Bearcats have lost fifteen straight meetings against UAlbany including a 14-4 loss a year ago in the Capital Region. Binghamton looks to stay undefeated at home in conference play.
