Women's Basketball Heads to UMass Lowell

Bearcats and River Hawks tip off at noon on Sunday







STORY LINES

- Binghamton (11-7, 2-3 AE) lost 67-59 to Stony Brook on Thursday night. Senior guard Imani Watkins scored a team-high 21 points while senior center Alyssa James finished with 19 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. More significant, however, was James breaking the America East record with her 232nd career block early in the second period. Watkins, meanwhile, moved into second place all time in BU program history with 1,849 career points.
 
- Watkins continues to lead the America East and ranks No. 15 in the nation with 21.2 points per game. She also is second in the conference in steals (2.5 spg.). James is tops in the America East and third in the nation with 4.1 blocks per game. She is also tied for first in the America East -- and No. 37 in the nation --in rebounding (9.7 rpg.).  As a team, Binghamton leads the conference and is fourth in the nation with 7.0 blocks per game. The Bearcats are also first in the America East in rebounding (40.7 rpg.) and are second in scoring (66.2 ppg.).
 
- With 234 career blocks, James is two blocks from the Binghamton program record of 236, set by current Associate Head Coach Leah (Truncale) Bowers from 1998-02.
 
- UMass Lowell (3-15, 0-5 AE) lost 61-52 to Albany on Thursday night. Kayla Gibbs finished with 16 points and 18 rebounds. For the season, Gibbs ranks No. 10 in the America East with 12.6 points per game and is tied with James for first with 9.7 rebounds.
 
- Binghamton leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell 8-4, including 6-2 during the America East era (UMass Lowell joined the conference in 2013-14). The Bearcats have won the past four meetings. Last year, the Bearcats won 58-54 on the road on Jan. 7 as well as 69-54 on Feb. 4 at the Events Center. The Bearcats are 3-1 all time at UMass Lowell during the America East era.
