Men's basketball hosts Stony Brook Thursday

Bearcats and Seawolves tip at 7 p.m. in BU's second-to-last home game of season

VESTAL, N.Y. - After one week off, Binghamton men's basketball (10-16, 1-10 America East) gets a second crack at longtime SUNY rival Stony Brook (10-16, 5-7 AE) when the teams meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Events Center. The game is being broadcast on ESPN3 and also will be shown simulcast in the Scranton-Wilkes Barre market on WQMY-TV.

Binghamton is 9-4 when outrebounding opponents and 1-12 when outrebounded.

All-time series vs. Stony Brook
Since both teams elevated to Division I and entered the America East, Stony Brook leads the series 21-16. Binghamton won 15 of the first 20 games between 2001-2011 but the Seawolves have won 16 of the last 17. The teams split the season series last year with each team winning at home. Back on Jan. 18 on Long Island, Stony Brook used a 23-3 run midway through the second half to take control in a 77-66 win. The Bearcats led for more than half of the game and held a 50-43 edge with 12:43 remaining before Stony Brook rallied. Junior guard J.C. Show led four BU double-digit players with 15 points. In the all-time series, which dates back to 1962, Stony Brook leads 41-26. The Bearcats hold a 17-16 edge at home over Stony Brook, including a 10-6 mark during both teams' Division I eras.   

Bruce notches eighth double-double of season
Junior center Thomas Bruce contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to UMBC last Thursday. It was his second-straight double-double and eighth of the season (2nd in AE). Bruce leads the AE in blocks (2.3) and field goal percentage (.610) and is second in rebounds (8.7).

Show has gone for 20+ in back-to-back games
Junior guard J.C. Show scored 23 points against UMBC and now has hit for 20 or more six times this season, including back-to-back games and three of the last six. Show ranks second in the America East in three-pointers per game (2.7) and has hit five or more 3s six times this season.  

Odero hits season-high 14 pts. vs. UMBC
Freshman wing Albert Odero is coming off a strong game against UMBC. Odero took advantage of a season-high 25 minutes to score a season-high 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting. He also grabbed three offensive rebounds (4 total). 

Bearcats rank among America East leaders
Led by junior center Thomas Bruce, several Bearcats are among the statistical leaders in the America East. Bruce is first in blocks (2.3) and field goal percentage (.610) and second in rebounding (8.7, 61st in nation). Junior guard J.C. Show is third in three-pointers (2.7), ninth in steals (1.2) and 12th in scoring (14.6). Junior guard Everson Davis is seventh in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9). As a team, BU ranks fourth in both scoring defense (70.7) and 3-point field goal percentage (.356) and fifth in field goal percentage (.452). The Bearcats continue to lead the league in blocks (4.3/game). 

Bruce one of nation's elite shot blockers
Junior center Thomas Bruce ranks 26th in the nation in blocks (2.3/game). He has rejected three or more shots 11 times this season (5 or more four times), including a career-high six against Army on Dec. 6.
