VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (10-23-1, 6-9 America East) and rival Stony Brook (21-18, 7-8 AE) begin a key America East series with a twinbill Saturday at the Bearcats Baseball Complex. The start time has been moved up to 11 a.m. in hopes of beating the projected rain for Saturday afternoon. The teams will then conclude the three-game set with a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.Â
Binghamton (6 titles) and Stony Brook (4) have combined to win 10 of the last 11 America East regular season titles but uncharacteristically, both are playing sub-.500 ball in conference play this spring. Â
In the midst of a six-game homestand, Binghamton is coming off a 12-3 midweek loss to Cornell. Following a six-game unbeaten streak earlier in the month, BU has now dropped eight of its last nine games. With nine conference games remaining, the Bearcats are in last place but sit just two games out of second in the tightly packed standings. During its current nine-game stretch, the team is averaging just 2.5 runs per game.
Junior outfielder
Anthony Meduri leads the team with a .314 average. Senior first basmen
Luke Tevlin is hitting .288 and senior catcher
Jason Agresti has 11 doubles, 16 RBI and a team-best .393 on-base percentage. Senior shortstop

Nick Wegmann (3-5, 4.22 ERA) gets the ball for Game 2 .
Binghamton has a team batting average of .239 (7th in AE) and a pitching ERA of 5.06 (4th).Â
The Seawolves are coming off a 19-10 loss at Fairfield on Thursday in a game that featured 29 combined runs and 33 hits. In conference play, Stony Brook has dropped five of its last six after starting the spring by winning six of nine against America East foes. They currently are in a tie for fifth place in the standings, but just are one game out of second.
Sophomore shortstop Nick Grande leads the team with a .384 average. Senior third baseman Bobby Honeyman is hitting .361 with four triples and 24 RBI. Sophomore right fielder Michael Wilson leads the team with 19 extra-base hits and 31 RBI. Starting today will be sophomore right-hander Greg Marino (Game 1) and sophomore righty Brian Hermann (Game 2). The Seawolves are hitting .263 (1st in AE) and have a pitching ERA of 5.42 (5th).Â
Since both teams joined the America East in 2002, Stony Brook leads the all-time series 44-32-1. In the last 10 games, BU leads 5-4-1, showing the even nature of the matchup. Back on March 17-18 on Long Island, the Seawolves took two of three against the Bearcats, winning a wild 15-12 opener before the teams split two tight games to end the weekend.
