VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (0-5) heads to Huntington, West Virginia for a three-game set against Conference USA member Marshall (4-4) this weekend. The teams will play a single game at 2 p.m. Friday and then a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday - all at the Kennedy Center YMCA. The weekend schedule was altered with bad weather expected to move into the area on Sunday.
The Bearcats opened the season with three losses to No. 17 Michigan and then dropped a pair last weekend at Old Dominion.Â

Marshall has won three of its last four after starting the season 1-4. Last weekend at the Hughes Brothers Challenge in Wilmington, N.C., the Thundering Herd defeated Iona twice (9-8 and 8-3) and UNC Wilmington (1-0) and lost to Indiana State (4-1). The team returned 10 position players and 10 pitchers from a 19-32 squad that finished tied for 11th (with Old Dominion) in Conference USA.Â
Senior outfielder Erik Rodriguez leads the team with a .429 average. Senior infielder Shane Hanon is hitting .286 with a team-best five RBI. They will start the series with senior left-handed ace Josh Shapiro (1-0, 1.00 ERA). He has struck out 11 in 9.0 innings thus far this spring.
