VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (18-17) begins a five-game week with a non-conference game against in-state rival St. Bonaventure (9-24) Tuesday afternoon at the Bearcats Baseball Complex. The game begins at 4 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN3.
Binghamton has won four in a row after a big three-game weekend sweep of visiting Hartford. With the wins, BU climbed into second place in the America East standings with three regular season series' remaining. Binghamton will host the six-team conference tournament on May 22-26.
Junior center fielder
Daniel Franchi hit .583 over the weekend and scored the game-winning run in Sunday's 1-0 win. In his last 24 games, Franchi is batting .389 with 23 runs scored. He was named the University's Athlete of the Week. Junior second baseman
Alex Baratta reached base eight times in the three games, had four RBI and stretched his hit streak to 16 games (3rd longest in school history) before it came to an end on Sunday. Baratta leads the America East with a .385 average.
Making his sixth start of the season will be sophomore right-hander

The Bonnies have lost seven of their last eight but did pick up a win over Richmond on Saturday.
St. Bonaventure began its season 2-11 but is 7-13 since. In the tough Atlantic 10, Bona is 5-10 and in 11th place (of 13). The team has wins over common BU opponents Penn State (18-6), Bucknell (11-5) and Niagara (10-6).
The Bonnies are hitting .241 and has a 6.33 pitching ERA.
Senior shortstop Ryan O'Connor leads the team with a .333 average. Sophomore first baseman Tyler Kelder has team-highs of six home runs, 13 doubles and 24 RBI. Senior outfielder Sam Fuller is hitting .301 with 14 stolen bases.
Sophomore right-hander Josh Pittman (1-0, 5.11 ERA) gets the start.
Binghamton leads the all-time series 10-3, and has won the last six head-to-head games, including a 4-3 win in Olean last May.
