Bearcats and Saints play at 4 p.m. in team's final non-conference game of season

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball (20-19) completes its non-conference slate on Wednesday when the Bearcats host Siena (15-28) at 4 p.m. at the Baseball Complex. It's the final game before BU closes out the regular season with six weekend games against America East foes.

Binghamton has won six of its last eight but will look to snap a three-game losing skid in non-conference play. On the season, BU is just 1-5 in midweek games.

Junior second baseman Alex Baratta is riding an amazing stretch at the plate. Baratta, the reigning BU Athlete of the Week and America East Player of the Week, is hitting .454 over his last two months (25 games) and is leading the conference in batting by a whopping 39 points. Sophomore center fielder Shane Marshall is back from an injury and is hitting .349 (4th in AE). Junior left fielder Daniel Franchi is is sixth in the AE in hitting (.340) and leads the Bearcats with 33 runs scored.

Starting today will be sophomore right-hander Luke Dziados (0-3, 4.85 ERA).

The Bearcats rank first in the America East in pitching ERA (4.42) and are second in both hitting (.273) and fielding (.978).

Siena is coming off a weekend where they dropped two of three at home to Northeastern. The Saints sit in sixth place (out of 11) in the MAAC with six games remaining. The top six teams reach the postseason. The Saints rank last in the MAAC in hitting (.233) but are third in pitching with a 4.64 ERA.

Junior right fielder Zach Durfee leads the team with a .293 average and 10 doubles. Freshman shortstop Devan Kruzinski has a team-high 20 RBI. The Saints will employ a "wholestaff" pitching approach to Wednesday's game.

Binghamton leads the all-time series 14-9 and has won the last three games by a combined 41-2 margin. A 22-1 Bearcats home win in 2017 was followed by a doubleheader sweep last May in Loudonville (9-1 and 10-0).
