Women's Basketball Hosts First-Place UMass Lowell

Bearcats and River Hawks tip off Saturday at 2 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (12-3, 1-1 AE) won 61-43 at UMBC on Wednesday night. Senior guard Kai Moon netted a game-high 14 points while senior guard Carly Boland and freshman guard Denai Bowman each added 10 points. Boland also dished out five assists while Bowman recorded three steals.

- Moon ranks first in the America East and is No. 11 in the nation with 20.6 points per game. She is also third in the conference with 2.0 steals per game. Sophomore forward Annie Ramil is tied for fifth in the America East with 7.1 rebounds per game while Boland is seventh in assists (3.1 apg.) and tied for third in blocks (1.0 bpg.). As a team, Binghamton cotinues to lead the America East 70.2 points per game.

- UMass Lowell (7-9, 3-0 AE) rallied for a 68-63 win at Hartford on Wednesday night. Kharis Idom led all scorers with 23 points while Ren'Cai Rolling finished with 16 points. Brianne Stiers grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
- Rolling is tied for 10th in the America East with 11.6 points per game. She is also first with 2.3 steals per game. As a team, the River Hawks lead the America East with 8.94 steals per game.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell 12-4, having swept the past eight meetings. Last year, the Bearcats won 70-50 at Lowell on Jan. 23 as well as 58-53 at the Events Center on Feb. 20. Moon scored a game-high 19 points in the second contest.

- Binghamton has received votes in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll four weeks this season. The Bearcats also were named one of the five "Under the Radar" Teams in the nation by NCAA.com back on Nov. 28.

- As a team, the Bearcats are off to their best 15-game start since the 2001-02 season. In the 47-year history of the program, seven Binghamton teams have started off their seasons at least 12-3.

- Prior to the game against UMass Lowell, head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord will be honored during a ceremony to commemorate winning her 100th career game on Dec, 30 against NJIT. 

 
MILESTONES TO WATCH FOR VS. UMASS LOWELL

- A victory would give the Bearcats 13 wins for the year, which would already surpass the 12 wins they had last season.
- A win would improve the Bearcats' home record to a perfect 7-0, their best start since going 10-0 at the Events Center to start the 2010-11 season.
- Kai Moon need 11 points to tie Laine Kurpniece (2004-08) for 10th place all-time in program history with 1,088 career points.
