Women’s Lacrosse to face No. 4 Syracuse Sunday at the Carrier Dome

Bearcats set for 8 p.m. start

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team will travel to No. 4 Syracuse for a Sunday night matchup at the Carrier Dome. This is the Bearcats' fourth time facing the Orange in the last five seasons.

Notes
  • The Bearcats are coming off a 16-9 defeat at the hands of Bucknell Wednesday in their season opener, but will try to continue their play from the second half on Sunday.
  • Paige Volkmann, who led the team in assists a season ago and was fourth in goals, led the way with four goals and an assist against the Bison.
  • Emily Masera followed suit with three goals and assist, including the first goal of the 2020 season. Alissa Franze and Isabella Meli rounded out the scoring Wednesday.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, the Bearcats relinquished just five goals in the second period, and opened up the half with thirteen straight minutes without giving up a score.
A look at Syracuse
  • Syracuse enters the weekend at 1-1 overall following a blowout win over Canisius and a narrow loss to America East member No. 12 Stony Brook.
  • The Orange fell behind by four in the final minutes to the Sea Wolves, but ran out of time with their comeback bid in the 17-16 defeat.
  • Prior to Sunday's game, Syracuse will continue its tour around the America East, as they take on Albany Saturday afternoon.
  • Emily Hawryschuk has dominated early season action with 13 goals in the first two games. Meaghan Tyrell has five goals and four assists.
Series History
  • The Orange are 7-0 against the Bearcats, and had a 15-5 victory a season ago.
  • In 2016, at the time, No. 3 Syracuse escaped with a 9-6 victory in the season opener.
