Women’s lacrosse returns home to face Mount St. Mary’s (Md.) Saturday

Bearcats seek first win of the season against Mountaineers

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team will host Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. This will be the third meeting between the two sides, and the first since 2017.

How to Watch Notes
  • Binghamton is 0-2 early on, following a home loss to Bucknell and No. 4 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.
  • The Bearcats are led by Paige Volkmann and Emily Masera on the offensive end, who netted four and three goals respectively in the season opener.
  • Alyssa Sanchez was able to score on a great individual effort and Jamie Golderman put home her first goal of her collegiate career against the Orange.
  • Defensively, Kelly Quinn, Alexa Franze and Sam Fama have been mainstays in the Bearcats lineup. Fama has six ground balls while Franze and Quinn have five each. Franze also has three caused turnovers.
  • Sofia Afkham leads Binghamton with five draw controls.
Scouting Mount St. Mary's
  • The Mountaineers boast a 2-0 record are coming off a 20-8 victory over America East opponent UMBC. Their other win was an 11-10 overtime triumph over George Washington.
  • Mount St. Mary's has a balanced offense, and have six players with four or more goals. Juniors Jordan Butler and Beanie Colson have six apiece.
  • Defensively, the Mountaineers only have 11 caused turnovers, and have several players with two. Sophomore Jordan Groover leads with six ground balls.
  • Last season, Mount St. Mary's posted a 16-3 record, but fell to Wagner in the Northeast Conference Championship
Series History
  • The all-time series between these two is tied at 1-1. 
  • The last time they played was in 2017, where Binghamton came out on top in a 13-6 game. The Bearcats' sole loss came in 2001.
