Women's Lacrosse to face Lafayette Wednesday

Bearcats hit the road, look to build off strong defensive effort Saturday

How to Follow

  • You can follow along on the ESPN+ and live stats are available here. There will also be live Twitter updates with @BinghamtonWLAX.
Notes
  • The Bearcats are coming off a 9-8 overtime defeat at the hands of Mount St. Mary's Saturday afternoon, but will look to take some positives into their clash with the Leopards.
  • The 9 goals allowed were a season-low for the Bearcats, and the entire defense stepped up and looked dominant at times. The team went 17-19 on clear attempts, including a perfect 11-11 in the first period, and picked up 21 ground balls to the Mountaineers' 10.
  • Goalie Taylor Passuello was very also very effective, recording saves on 55% of her opportunities and causing two turnovers from inside the crease.
  • On the offensive side, sophomore Emily Masera and juniors Alyssa Sanchez and Paige Volkmann led the way with two points each.

A look at Lafayette
  • Lafayette will enter Wednesday's matchup with a 2-0 record on the season, the team's second straight season with that record.
  • After toppling Delaware State University 18-6 in their season opener, the Leopards bested Merrimack College 11-8 in their home opener on Saturday.
  • Freshman Meghan McLachlan led the way with two goals and two assists against Merrimack, as the defense relinquished just two goals in the first half.
  • McLachlan and sophomore Olivia Cunningham are red-hot to begin the season for Lafayette, each tallying 7 points over the course of the first two games.
Series History
  • This will be the seventh matchup between the two schools, as they have faced off every year since 2014.
  • Lafayette leads the all time series 4-2 thus far, and have won three of the past four meetings.
  • Last time the two teams have faced was March 13, 2019, and the Leopards were able to squeak out a 13-12 victory.
Up Next
  • The Bearcats will travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to face Marist College on Saturday Feb. 29. Opening draw will be set for 1 p.m.
