PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior
Aziza Chigatayeva placed 28th in the women's race and fellow senior
Matt Jacob was 42nd in the men's race, highlighting Binghamton's showing at the Princeton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. The Bearcat women were 13th out of 21 teams while the men were 17th out of 21 squads.
Chigatayeva covered the women's 6,100-meter course in a time of 22:31. Graduate student
Elisabeth Van Tassell was the Bearcats' second runner, placing 77th in a time of 23:43. Rounding out the team scoring were sophomore
Lindsay Holland in 96th place (24:07.4), junior
Carolyn Burnell in 97th place (24:07.9) and graduate student
Kaylee Stone in 136th place (25:18).
Fiona Max led the host Tigers to the women's team title with a first-place time of 21:16.
There were 176 runners in the women's race.
Jacob, meanwhile, clocked a time of 25:24 for the men's 8,000-meter race. Junior
Marty Dolan was 79th (25:54) followed by graduate student
Matt Goyden in 89th place (25:59), senior
Kevin Moshier in 178th place (27:39) and freshman
Sean Ryan in 181st place (27:41).
Haftu Strinztos led Villanova to the team title with a winning time of 24:05.
There were 209 runners in the men's race.
Up next for Binghamton is the America East Championships, which will be held at New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 29.
