Women’s lacrosse travels to Albany Saturday

Matchup with Great Danes to begin at Noon (previously scheduled for 4 p.m.)

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team will compete in its first road game of the season against Albany Saturday afternoon.  The Bearcats and Great Danes will begin play at 12 p.m. at John Fallon Field.
 

Notes

  • The Bearcats are coming off a season opening victory over UMass-Lowell 11-8, in which six players scored goals and the defense did not allow a goal over the final 12 minutes of action.

  • Freshman Madison Murphy scored her first ever career hat trick in her first collegiate game, and added an assist for four points. 

  • Junior Emily Masera matched Murphy's four points, adding two goals and two assists.

  • 2020's leading scorer Paige Volkmann scored twice, both goals coming late in the second half to help seal the victory.

  • Kelly Quinn made her long awaited return from injury and picked up her first goal of the season.

  • Taylor Passuello earned America East Defensive Player of the Week after nine saves on a .529 save percentage. She also picked up five ground balls.

 

Scouting Albany

  • Albany is 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the America East this season.

  • The Great Danes are coming off an 18-7 win over #20 Hofstra this past Tuesday. In total, they have victories over St. Bonaventure, Colgate, New Hampshire and the aforementioned Pride. Their losses are against Boston College and UConn. 

  • Sam Tortora (seven goals, nine assists) and Allie Alliegro(seven goals, six assists) have stuffed the stats sheet for Albany, while Hailey Carroll has a team-high nine goals.

  • Goalie Georgia Schneidereith has 45 saves this season with a .500 save percentage.
     

Previous matchup

  • The Bearcats last faced the Great Danes on March 30th, 2019 as Albany prevailed 19-8.
