VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team will compete in a home matchup with UMBC at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Bearcats and Retrievers will play their first of two regular season matchups, with Binghamton heading to Baltimore on Saturday, April 25 to complete the season series.

BU (1-2 overall) is coming off a 17-10 defeat at the hands of Vermont last weekend.

Paige Volkmann, the team's leading goal scorer, finished with two goals for the Bearcats against the Catamounts to give her 10 total goals on the season. That mark leads the team.

Junior Emily Masera is coming off a hat-trick in last week's matchup with Vermont. She is up to five goals on the year and also leads the Bearcats with three assists.

Sophomore Rebecca Korn is also coming off a strong performance last weekend with two goals, an assist, and three ground balls. She matches Masera with five goals thus far on the season.

Senior midfielder Alyssa Sanchez was solid in the midfield against the Catamounts, getting seven draw controls and five ground balls to go along with a caused turnover. Sanchez leads the team in draws and ground balls for the season.

The Retrievers are coming off a14-13 overtime loss against New Hampshire this past Saturday and defeated Hartford 25-7 the weekend before. Their losses have come against Stony Brook and Towson.

Claire Bockstie (16 goals, one assist) and Courtney Renehan (12 goals, four assists) are the team leaders in goals, and total points for UMBC, while Renehan also has picked up nine ground balls and caused a team high four turnovers.

Megan Halczuk has a team high in 39 draw controls for the Retrievers this season.

Goalie Lexi Roberts has 49 saves and 19 ground balls.
