VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University women's lacrosse team begins the 2021 season at home against UMass Lowell Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats and RIver Hawks will get going at 1 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Binghamton returns its top three goal scorers from 2020 in Paige Volkmann, Alyssa Sanchez, and Sidra Morchower.

BU also brings back an entire starting defense that turned a corner last season, giving up only eight goals to both Quinnipiac and Colgate in its final two games.

Five current Bearcats scored goals in the previous meeting with the River Hawks, with Sanchez leading the way with two goals and two assists. Taylor Passuello earned the win in goal while making 8 saves.

The River Hawks bounced back from a season opening defeat against UConn with a strong 21-11 victory over Central Connecticut.

Molly Shaw scored five goals, while Megan Brockbank added two goals and a team-high five assists to lead the offense against CCSU.

Hana Caster secured four ground balls, caused three turnovers, and had 14 draw controls to help UMass Lowell dominate possession.
