Swimming & Diving Splits Meet at Colgate

Men win 229-61, women edged 168-131

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Binghamton posted five double-event winners, highlighting its swimming & diving dual meet at Colgate on Friday evening. The Bearcat men defeated the host Raiders 229-61 while the women lost 168-131.

On the men's side, sophomore Elijah Lanfear swept the 100 fly (49.62) and 200 fly (1:57.31) and was part of both first-place relays. The 400 medley relay team also included juniors Jake Vecchio, Xiaoyu Lin and Travis Phillips and clocked a time of 3:29.15. The 400 free relay quartet, which also included senior Ryan Maierle as well as juniors Henry Shemet and Liam Murphy recorded a time of 3:06.20.

The two other men's double winners were freshman Liam Preston in the 200 free (1:42.72) and 200 back (1:57.46) and senior Ryan Cohn in both the one-meter diving event (278.38) and three-meter competition (258.90). For the season, Cohn has now won five of the six diving events he has entered.

There were six other individual winners on the men's side for Binghamton. They included senior Zachary Ciriaco (1000 free – 10:16.49), junior George Kipshidze (100 free – 47.92), junior Eric Kroon (100 breast – 58.46), senior Matthew Palguta (500 free – 4:59.12), senior Justin Meyn (200 IM – 1:58.88) and Lin (200 breast – 2:15.33).

Junior Courtney Moane and freshman Elizabeth Tirado were the Bearcats' double-event winners on the women's side. Moane swept the 100 breast (1:06.27) and the 200 breast (2:26.08) while Tirado captured the one-meter diving event (217.80) and the three-meter competition (207.08).

Other winners on the women's side included freshman Olivia Philbrick in the 100 back (59.30) and fellow freshman Celia Webster in the 200 back (2:08.72).

Binghamton returns home to face Bryant on Saturday at 11 a.m.
