Swimming & Diving Swept by Cornell

Big Red win men’s meet 128-115, women’s competition 146-97

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton swimming & diving teams hosted Cornell on Friday night at the Saunders Aquatic Center in their final home meet of the fall semester. The Big Red, however, swept both the men's and women's meets, winning by scores of 128-115 and 146-97 respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Elijah Lanfear was the lone double winner, capturing the 50 free (20.58) and the 100 fly (48.40). He has now won seven individual events in the past three meets.

Senior Ryan Cohn won the men's one-meter diving competition with a score of 268.05 points. He has now won eight of the 10 events he has entered in so far this season.

Other winners on the men's side included junior Liam Murphy in the 200 free (1:40.78), fellow junior Henry Shemet in the 100 free (46.46), freshman Liam Preston in the 500 free (4:34.68) and junior Eric Kroon in the 100 breast (56.07).

Murphy, Shemet and seniors Justin Meyn and Ryan Maierle won the 200 free relay (1:23.92).

On the women's side, junior Courtney Moane won the 100 breast (1:05.59) and was on the first-place 400 medley relay team, which also included juniors Kandice Chandra and Maddie Hoover as well as freshman Maria Pignatelli. The Bearcat quartet clocked a time of 3:56.47. Moane has now won five individual events in her last three meets.

The Bearcats other individual winner in the women's meet was freshman Celia Webster in the 400 IM (4:35.33).

Binghamton's next meet is the Rhode Island Invitational, which takes place Nov. 18-20.
