VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's lacrosse will host Cornell in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The Bearcats sit at 1-1 this season, defeating Colgate after an opening loss at defending NCAA runner-up Syracuse.

Abigail Carroll leads Binghamton with six goals this season. Madison Murphy (four goals) and Jesse Barer (three goals and one assist) have four points apiece.

Binghamton's matchup with Colgate started without much offense, but BU poured it on in the second half to win 14-4. The Bearcats led 4-2 at the break, and scored eight straight goals starting in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Carroll led the way offensively, scoring four goals. Hayley Weltner, Barer and Murphy added two goals apiece.

Emily Manning made nine saves for the Bearcats, letting in just four goals for a .692 save percentage. She helped lead a defensive unit that forced 19 turnovers. Carroll, Paige Alletzhauser and Quinn each had two caused turnovers.

The Bearcats led the ground ball battle 25-13. Kristen Scheidel had four of them, and eight others picked up two or more.

Sophia Ward led a balanced scoring effort, putting in four goals. Maggie Pons and Katie Castiello each scored three times. The trio also picked up nine of the team's 25 ground balls on the afternoon.

Katie McGahan made nine saves in goal Saturday. The graduate student is now in her fourth season as the starting goalie.
