VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton baseball hits the road for its second weekend series of the 2022 season when the Bearcats (1-2) face No. 23 Old Dominion (3-0) Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Bud Metheny Stadium in Norfolk. 
The reigning Conference USA-champion Monarchs are a daunting opponent, coming off a 44-win season that ended with NCAA Regional runnerup honors and a No. 16 ranking last spring. ODU opened their 2022 season last weekend by outscoring visiting Iona 47-3 in a three-game sweep. They amassed 18 extra-base hits in the three wins (4-2, 24-0, 19-1).
The Bearcats experienced a wide range of success their three-game series at Lamar last weekend in Beaumont, Texas. Binghamton opened the series by playing in the second-longest game (innings) in program history, falling 2-1 in 14 innings. In Game 2, the bottom fell out in a 16-1 loss. In Sunday's finale, however, BU scored early and rolled to a 9-5 win.

Kevin Reilly each hit a solo home run. Newcomers

Evin Sullivan collected three hits apiece in two games. 
On the mound, junior No. 1 
Thomas Babalis didn't allow an earned run in 5.0 innings in the opener. In Game 3, junior 
Ryan Bryggman also worked 5.0 innings and recorded the win after allowing just one earned run.
